Tanker MT Kazimah III hit near Oman; five Indians rescued

The Kuwait-flagged crude tanker MT Kazimah III was struck by an unknown projectile about four nautical miles east of Oman, UK maritime authorities reported. Five Indian seafarers were rescued after the strike in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Indian Embassy in Muscat said it coordinated the rescue of the five nationals from the tanker. Indian reports identified the vessel as a 317,250 deadweight-tonne ship of the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company, hit while transiting the strait on October 1.

Maritime Executive reported that the Kazimah III is the sixth vessel struck in the Strait of Hormuz within a week, turning the pattern into a repeated voyage-level risk for Gulf crude and LNG traffic.

The incident has deepened concern about sea-lane safety. At the United Nations General Assembly last week, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed concern over attacks on commercial ships and sailors, appealing for reduced tensions and safe global trade.
