CJP announces Oct 10 Jantar Mantar protest if CEC does not resign

Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke announced on Friday that his supporters would march to Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10 if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign. Dipke made the announcement in a late-night post on X, hours after thousands gathered at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park demanding Kumar’s resignation.
“If Gyanesh Kumar doesn’t resign, cockroaches from across India will march to Delhi and protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10,” Dipke wrote. He said the demonstration would be peaceful and follow Mahatma Gandhi’s path of non-violence.
The protests centre on allegations of irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The Election Commission has rejected the claims and said its decisions, including those on the SIR, were taken unanimously.
Mumbai Police had denied permission for the October 2 gathering at Shivaji Park, citing venue restrictions. Despite that, thousands gathered at the venue, where film personalities including Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah joined the demonstrators.
The agitation runs parallel to the INDIA bloc’s own week-long Save Democracy campaign, but the CJP has said it will not join the opposition’s October 6 march.
