US Indo-Pacific commander begins six-day India visit today

Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, arrived in India on Saturday for a six-day official visit. The trip runs from October 3 to October 8.
The visit aims to advance the India-US Major Defence Partnership and deepen military-to-military cooperation. The US Embassy in India announced the details of the trip.
Paparo will meet senior officials of the Defence Ministry and the armed forces. Talks will cover digital transformation, emerging technologies and regional strategic stability.
Defence energy resilience and the competitive technology landscape are also on the agenda. The embassy said both nations are building a defence partnership equipped for future challenges, from emerging technology to maritime security.
This is Paparo’s second visit to India this year. He last visited from February 14 to 19, when he met military leaders in Delhi and toured facilities in Bengaluru.
The US Embassy said the visit reaffirms America’s enduring presence in the Indian Ocean region. India-US defence ties rest on logistics pacts, joint exercises and co-production of military technology. Paparo also visited Bengaluru earlier this year to inspect aerospace facilities including HAL Tejas.
