What is AgriStack? India’s digital farm platform explained

AgriStack is India’s digital public infrastructure for agriculture. Think of it as the “UPI of agriculture”. Here is how it works.
AgriStack creates a digital profile for every farmer. It links three things: who the farmer is, where the land is, and what crop is grown. It is built by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
The platform rests on three registries. The Farmer Registry gives each farmer a unique Farmer ID. It is linked to digitised land records. The Geo-Referenced Village Maps digitise field boundaries. The Crop Sown Registry records what is planted.
Over 10.31 crore Farmer IDs had been created as of August 2026. The Digital Crop Survey covered more than 31.3 crore plots in Rabi 2025-26.
The ID unlocks services. Farmers can access credit, crop insurance and weather advisories faster. MSP-based procurement becomes easier to track. Ghost beneficiaries are removed.
A consent manager gives farmers control over their data. An open API lets banks and startups build services on top.
The mission launched in September 2024 with a budget of Rs 2,817 crore.
