Iran Sends US Counter-Proposal to End War

Iran has sent a counter-proposal to the United States aimed at ending the war, state media reported on September 30. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi delivered the proposal to President Masoud Pezeshkian through the IRNA news agency. The proposal includes conditions related to the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil shipping route. Details of the full proposal have not been made public. The move comes as tensions remain high between Iran and Israel, with US involvement in the conflict. Iran has previously set conditions for any ceasefire deal. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy corridors. About a fifth of global oil passes through it each day. Any disruption there could push up fuel prices worldwide. It is not clear how Washington will respond to the proposal. US officials have not yet commented publicly on the Iranian offer. The proposal marks a rare diplomatic opening in a conflict that has raised fears of a wider regional war. Diplomats say any deal would need weeks of talks, and previous ceasefire efforts have collapsed quickly.
