Lakadbaggha 2 to premiere at Belgium film festival

Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business will have its world premiere at the Razor Reel Flanders Film Fest in Bruges, Belgium.

The festival runs from October 29 to November 7. The film is the first Indian action film selected for the European genre festival’s programme.

Directed by Anshuman Jha, the sequel to the animal-lover vigilante action film brings together Chinese martial arts star Sunny Pang and Thai icon Dan Chupong, known for Ong Bak.

The Indian cast includes Adil Hussain, Sarah Jane Dias, Vikram Kochar and Jha, who reprises his role as Arjun Bakshi. The film is an India-Indonesia co-production.

The Razor Reel programming team discovered the film at the Marche du Film at Cannes 2026. Festival director Patrick Van Hauwaert praised its hand-to-hand combat and its spotlight on illegal wildlife smuggling.

At its heart is the endangered Yaki monkey, whose population has fallen from nearly 50,000 in 1990 to fewer than 5,000 today.

Why it matters: the selection marks a rare international breakthrough for an Indian genre franchise.
