Adani Green battery storage at Khavda jumps to 6.63 GWh

Adani Green Energy has nearly doubled its battery energy storage capacity at Khavda in Gujarat, from 3.55 GWh in June to 6.63 GWh by the end of September. The site now holds more than half of India's total installed storage capacity of about 12.6 GWh.
The facility is the world's largest single-location battery energy storage system. Built in just 14 months, it can power around two million homes for a day and charge up to 150,000 electric vehicles. It sits within Adani Green's 30 GW renewable energy plant spread over 538 square kilometres.
Executive director Sagar Adani said the speed of execution shows what is possible when clean energy is treated as national infrastructure. The storage system allows solar power generated during the day to be used after sunset.
The expansion comes as India races to add storage to balance its growing solar capacity. Grid-scale batteries are seen as critical to making round-the-clock renewable power a reality.
