India batter Shreyas Iyer had a scare ahead of the ODI series against New Zealand after a dog approached his car, in an incident captured in a viral video.

The video shows a tense moment as the dog came close to the vehicle while Iyer was preparing for the series. He escaped unhurt.

Fans flooded social media with messages of concern and relief after the clip spread. Team officials have not commented on the incident.

Iyer is a key member of India’s ODI setup as the team builds toward its home calendar. The series against New Zealand is an important assignment for the middle-order batter.

The incident is a reminder of the stray-dog menace in Indian cities, an issue that has sparked public debate and court interventions.

Iyer is expected to join the squad’s preparations as scheduled. The team management will hope the scare does not affect his focus ahead of the series.
