Microsoft Sets October 7 Event With Nvidia’s Huang on Stage

Microsoft has confirmed a special Windows and Surface event in San Francisco on October 7, promising to discuss “how local AI will shape the next chapter of the PC”.
The event is expected to centre on Nvidia’s RTX Spark platform and new Surface hardware, including the long-rumoured Surface Laptop Ultra. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Windows chief Pavan Davuluri will all appear on stage.
Microsoft has already described the Surface Laptop Ultra as its most powerful Surface laptop, pairing a custom Nvidia RTX Spark chip with up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 1 petaflop of local AI compute.
Six notebook families have been identified so far, including the ASUS ProArt P16, Dell XPS 16, HP OmniBook Ultra 16, Lenovo Yoga Pro 9n and MSI Prestige N16 Flip AI+.
The invitation does not mention Windows 12, and the event is expected to focus on Windows 11 optimisations for local AI, including new workload scheduling and improved app emulation.
It will be Microsoft’s first major Windows presentation in more than two years.
