Women’s Recurve Team Wins Maiden Asian Games Gold

India's women's recurve archery team has won its maiden Asian Games gold medal. The team beat South Korea 5-3 in the final.
Ankita Bhakat, Kirti Sharma and Kumkum Mohod starred in the win. They held their nerve against the 10-time Olympic champions.
The first two sets were tied at 54 and 56 points. Korea faltered in the third set with three straight 8s. India shot 55 to take the lead.
In the fourth set, both teams scored 54. The draw was enough to seal the historic gold for India.
India had beaten China 5-1 in the semifinal earlier. The team reached its first-ever Asian Games final.
The gold adds to India's strong archery campaign. The compound teams had already won three golds on the previous day.
Recurve archery uses the classic bow shape seen at the Olympics. South Korea has long ruled the event. Beating them is a rare feat for any team. India's archers trained for months for these Games. The win will inspire young archers back home.
