Lovlina, Parveen, Ankush chase boxing gold on Games Day 14

India will fight for three boxing gold medals on Friday as Lovlina Borgohain, Parveen Hooda and Ankush Panghal enter their finals at the Asian Games.

Lovlina faces China’s Bao Ziyi in the women’s 75kg final at 10 am. The Olympic bronze medallist and 2023 world champion beat Kazakhstan’s Natalya Bogdanova 3-2 in a tight semifinal.

Parveen takes on Chinese Taipei’s Chen Nien-chin in the women’s 65kg final at 2:15 pm. She beat China’s Li Shu 5-0 in the semifinal, improving on her Hangzhou bronze.

Ankush meets South Korea’s Kim Minseong in the men’s 80kg final at 2:45 pm. He came from behind to stun reigning world champion Fazliddin Erkinboev in the semifinal.

The women’s hockey team also plays for gold against China at 3:30 pm. Narender Berwal has already secured a heavyweight boxing bronze.

Wrestlers Dipanshi, Sujeet Kalkal and Rajat Ruhal will also be in action through the day. A strong finish today could make boxing one of India’s most productive disciplines at these Games.
