Switzerland’s President Guy Parmelin will pay a state visit to India from October 5 to 7 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the foreign ministry said.
Parmelin will hold bilateral talks with Modi on October 5 on trade and investment, science and technology, mobility, culture and people-to-people contact. He will also meet President Droupadi Murmu, who will host an official banquet, and call on External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation of officials and business leaders. It is his first state visit to India and his second visit this year after the AI Impact Summit in February.
The visit coincides with the second India-EFTA Prosperity Summit on October 7. It marks one year of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement, which came into force on October 1, 2025.
Switzerland is India’s largest trade and investment partner among the four EFTA nations, which also include Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
