GST mop-up rises 14.7% to Rs 2.04 lakh crore in September

India’s gross GST collection rose 14.7 per cent year-on-year to Rs 2,03,521 crore in September, staying above the Rs 2 lakh crore mark for the third straight month.
Official data released on Thursday showed central GST at Rs 37,762 crore and state GST at Rs 45,363 crore. Integrated GST stood at Rs 1,20,396 crore, according to IANS.
Net GST revenue climbed 18.1 per cent to Rs 1,76,520 crore. Gross domestic revenue rose 10.1 per cent to Rs 1,37,996 crore, while import-related taxes drove much of the growth.
The cumulative gross collection for April to September stood at Rs 12,46,278 crore, up 11.6 per cent from a year earlier.
In August, collections had jumped 14.8 per cent to Rs 1,99,853 crore. Economists say the steady rise points to firm economic activity and stronger compliance.
The GST Council meets on October 7. Sources told IANS that no major rate changes are expected. The panel is likely to focus on process reforms and the implementation of the recently completed rate rationalisation.
