India sweep all three compound archery team golds

India completed a clean sweep of all three compound archery team golds at the Asian Games on September 30, underlining its dominance in the discipline.
The women’s trio of Chikitha Taniparthi, Prithika Pradeep and Jyothi Surekha Vennam beat China 238-234 to defend their title. The score equalled the world record set by South Korea in 2014.
Chikitha and Sahil Jadhav then won the mixed team gold, beating South Korea in a shoot-off after the scores were tied at 157-157.
The men’s trio of Kushal Dalal, Sahil Jadhav and Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru completed the sweep by edging China in the final.
The mixed team gold also secured India a quota place for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, where compound archery will make its Olympic debut.
Jyothi Surekha Vennam said the trio stayed self-motivated and fought till the very end. It was India’s seventh gold of the ongoing Games. The women’s 238 equalled the world record set by South Korea at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. The men’s team edged China in a thrilling final to complete the sweep.
