Explained: TakeMe2Space’s MOI-1A, India’s orbital AI satellite

Hyderabad startup TakeMe2Space launched its MOI-1A satellite on October 1 aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-18 mission, aiming to turn satellites into orbital computers.
Here is what makes it different. MOI-1A is a sub-50 kg 6U CubeSat fitted with Nvidia Orin NX edge processors, giving it serious AI computing power in space. It carries a 9-band multispectral imager and 2 TB of onboard storage, generating about 150 watts of power.
Instead of beaming raw imagery down to Earth for processing, MOI-1A will run AI models on board, analysing data in orbit and sending down only the insights. This cuts bandwidth costs and latency for customers in agriculture, disaster response and infrastructure monitoring.
The startup says it has 23 customers signed up, including Little Place Labs. TakeMe2Space was founded in 2024 by Ronak Kumar Samantray and raised a $5 million seed round led by Chiratae.
The launch is a comeback: the company’s original MOI-1 satellite was lost in the PSLV-C62 failure in January 2026.
