INS Ranvijay calls at Oman’s Salalah, holds PASSEX drill

The Indian Navy’s frontline destroyer INS Ranvijay made a port call at Salalah, Oman, on September 29 as part of her ongoing operational deployment, underscoring the enduring maritime partnership between India and Oman. The Indian Navy announced the visit in a post on X.
During the port call, the Commanding Officer of INS Ranvijay called on the Commander of the Southern Naval Area of the Royal Navy of Oman. Professional engagements were held between the Indian destroyer and RNOV Sadh, an Omani naval vessel, covering operational and professional exchanges.
The visit culminated in a bilateral passage exercise (PASSEX) conducted off the coast of Salalah between the Indian Navy and the Royal Navy of Oman. “The engagements underscored enduring India-Oman friendship and maritime ties,” the Navy said.
The port call follows a high-level defence interaction earlier in September, when a delegation from India’s National Defence College concluded a Strategic Neighbourhood Study Tour to Muscat, meeting Oman’s military leadership. Regular naval exchanges remain a cornerstone of the India-Oman defence relationship.
