The National Investigation Agency on Monday re-arrested six people in Assam’s Barpeta district in connection with a terror module case.

The six are linked to the IMK/JMB offshoot — a module with ties to Bangladesh-based groups — officials said. They had been picked up earlier and were re-arrested after fresh evidence emerged during the investigation.

The arrests are part of a wider crackdown. A total of 13 people have been detained across 16 locations in Assam, West Bengal and Kerala in the ongoing operation.

NIA officials said the module was allegedly involved in radicalisation and recruitment activities. Searches at multiple sites led to the recovery of documents and digital devices, which are being examined.

The agency is probing the module’s funding channels and cross-border links. Officials said further arrests have not been ruled out as the investigation progresses.

Assam has been on alert over modules with links to Bangladesh-based outfits, and the state police and central agencies have stepped up joint operations in recent months.
