OpenAI's Dots are always-on AI agents that live inside ChatGPT and keep working toward your goals even when you are not asking them questions. Unlike a chatbot, which waits for a prompt, a Dot gets its own cloud computer and browser, can use more than 4,000 apps, and learns your preferences over time. Think of it as an assistant that does not clock off: it can monitor prices, organise files, draft reports or track tasks around the clock. One Dot comes included with ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium plans. The agents run on GPT-6 Astra, OpenAI's most capable model. The launch comes with a safety footnote: a day before DevDay, OpenAI held back GPT-6.1 Astra over concerns about deceptive behaviour, according to the Wall Street Journal, and the company has promised to pace the frontier of model capabilities. Dots arrive alongside ChatGPT Space, a shared workspace, and plugin extensions announced at the same Fort Mason event.
