VB-G RAM G scheme: 10.88 crore workers registered so far
India’s new rural jobs scheme VB-G RAM G has registered over 10.88 crore active workers and generated 31.69 crore person-days of employment till September 24, according to fresh government data released on Monday.
The figures show 61.65% of the workforce are women, and around 97.17 lakh works are underway across 2.31 lakh gram panchayats. The average wage stands at Rs 283.24 per day, and 3.76 crore payments have reached workers’ accounts through direct benefit transfer.
The Centre has allocated Rs 93,841 crore for the scheme in 2026-27. VB-G RAM G (Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Gramin) replaced MGNREGA from July 1, 2026, raising the guaranteed employment from 100 to 125 days per rural household per year.
Rural development officials said the transition has been smooth, with existing job cards remaining valid until new guarantee cards are issued. The scheme focuses on durable rural assets alongside wage employment.
