Trump launches AI portal America.gov for federal services

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday launched America.gov, an AI-powered portal designed to become the single starting point for Americans seeking federal government information and services.
Unveiled at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC, the chatbot-style site lets users type plain-language questions and receive answers drawn only from official government sources, instead of navigating thousands of separate agency websites.
Trump signed an executive order titled “Streamlining Access to Government Services Through America.gov”, directing federal agencies to integrate their public-facing services with the platform. Future phases are expected to let users complete transactions such as passport renewals.
US Chief Design Officer Joe Gebbia said the platform runs on Google’s Gemini and xAI’s Grok. The administration says it collects minimal user data and that conversations disappear when users leave the site, with an open-source classifier stripping personal information.
In an awkward launch-day moment, the site answered questions about the 2020 election by stating that Joe Biden won with 306 electoral votes, citing federal records.
