Four Indian Startups Join Google’s AI for the Planet Program
Four Indian organisations have been picked for the inaugural Google DeepMind Accelerator: AI for the Planet in Asia-Pacific. Terrastack, Varaha Climate, Farmers for Forests and Climitra Carbon are among 16 organisations selected across the region, in a programme announced on September 7, 2026.
Over three months, the participants will get access to Google’s AI stack, technical support and expert mentorship to scale their sustainability-focused solutions. The programme kicked off with a hands-on bootcamp in Singapore.
The Indian projects apply AI to climate and agriculture challenges. Terrastack combines satellite and agronomic data for plot-level farm intelligence. Varaha Climate uses remote sensing and AI to verify regenerative agriculture and carbon removal. Farmers for Forests deploys AI-powered drones to measure agroforestry outcomes. Climitra Carbon uses geo-spatial AI to verify invasive-species removal and its conversion into biochar.
Participants will work with frontier Google models including AnthroKrishi, ForestCast, AlphaEarth Foundations, SpeciesNet and Perch. The programme is Google DeepMind’s first climate-focused accelerator dedicated to the Asia-Pacific region.
