Amit Shah opens Barapullah Phase III corridor in Delhi
Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Barapullah Phase III elevated corridor in Delhi on September 29. The new stretch connects Mayur Vihar Phase I to Sarai Kale Khan.
The corridor links with the existing Barapullah road, creating a combined route of about 9 km toward AIIMS. Officials estimate the stretch could cut travel time to about 15 minutes.
The project is expected to ease congestion on the Ring Road and key south Delhi routes. Commuters from east Delhi will get a faster link to central and south Delhi.
Traffic police have warned of congestion near Sarai Kale Khan, Maharani Bagh and Ashram Chowk as drivers adjust to the new route. Diversions may be in place during peak hours.
The corridor has been in the works for several years. Its opening is a relief for daily commuters who have long dealt with jams on the route. Officials said the 15-minute estimate applies to the full Mayur Vihar to AIIMS run via the corridor.
