Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has promised fair prices for farmers and called for 'Team Agriculture above politics' at the launch of the Rabi Campaign 2026. The announcement comes ahead of the winter sowing season.

Chouhan said the Centre and states must work together to make India a global food basket. He announced monthly review meetings with states on the rabi season's progress.

The rabi campaign sets targets for sowing wheat, pulses and oilseeds in the winter season. Timely seeds, fertilisers and fair procurement prices are key farmer demands, and the minister promised close monitoring.

Farmers' groups will watch whether the promises translate into better mandi prices. The minister said the government is committed to doubling farm income efforts and cutting input costs.

The campaign will run through the sowing season with district-level targets. States have been asked to report sowing progress every Monday. The first review meeting is expected next month.
