Alexander Zverev clinched the Laver Cup for Team Europe on September 27, beating Learner Tien 7-6(3), 6-3 at the O2 in London. Europe defeated Team World 13-5.

The win was Zverev’s record eighth Laver Cup singles victory. He has now been part of all six of Team Europe’s title wins in the event’s nine editions.

Europe led 7-5 overnight. Flavio Cobolli and Jakub Mensik extended the lead with a 7-5, 6-3 doubles win over Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz before Zverev finished the job.

The victory caps a breakout season for Zverev, who won his first two Grand Slam titles this year at the French Open and the US Open. Team World had won the trophy in San Francisco last year.

Wins were worth one point on Friday, two on Saturday and three on Sunday, with the first team to 13 points taking the trophy. Europe sealed it with three matches to spare, so the remaining singles rubbers were not played.
