NLC India posts record profit, declares 38.5% dividend

State-run NLC India has posted a record profit for the financial year 2025-26 and declared a 38.5 per cent dividend for shareholders.
The Navratna company also announced a joint venture with Nalco for a 1,080 MW thermal power plant, strengthening its generation portfolio. The project will come up in Odisha.
NLC’s strong performance was driven by higher power generation, improved plant efficiency and stable coal supply from its captive mines. The company is diversifying into renewable energy as well.
The dividend announcement rewards shareholders after a landmark year. NLC is targeting a larger role in India’s power sector as electricity demand continues to grow.
The company said its renewable portfolio is expanding alongside thermal assets. NLC aims to reach 17 gigawatts of total capacity by 2030, with a growing share from solar and wind. Officials credited the workforce and stable operations for the company’s strongest year on record. The board said the dividend reflects confidence in the company’s growth pipeline.
