Students of the National Institute of Fashion Technology have won two Silver Medals and a Medal for Excellence at the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, held from September 23 to 26. The achievement adds to India's strong showing at the 'Olympics of skills', where the country fielded its largest-ever contingent of 70 competitors across 63 skills and finished 10th overall.

Kovid Ajay Gangrade of NIFT Mumbai won silver in Digital Interactive Media Design, while Saniya Joshi of NIFT Panchkula secured silver in Retail Sales. Vidhi Niravkumar Suthar, a fashion design graduate of NIFT Gandhinagar, earned the Medal for Excellence in Fashion Technology after an intensive four-month training programme in New Delhi.

India overall won six Silver Medals and 20 Medals for Excellence at the competition, which drew more than 1,400 young competitors from about 68 countries and regions. Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh congratulated the NIFT students, noting that fashion education is expanding into digital, retail and technology-driven domains.
