West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves will miss the second ODI against India in Guwahati on September 30 after suffering a calf injury. Cricket West Indies confirmed the news on September 29.

Greaves picked up the injury during the first ODI at Thiruvananthapuram, where he scored a maiden ODI century — 101 off 108 balls — but could not complete the match.

His absence is a blow for the visitors. India lead the three-match series 1-0 after chasing down West Indies’ 295 in just 41.4 overs, powered by Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 139 and Shubman Gill’s 110.

It is not yet clear whether Greaves will be fit for the third and final ODI in New Chandigarh on October 3. West Indies are expected to name his replacement before the second game at Barsapara.

Greaves’ century in the series opener was the highlight of his international career so far. The team management will hope the calf problem is minor, with more white-ball cricket on the calendar this year.
