Travis Hunter recorded his first NFL interception as the Jacksonville Jaguars crushed the New England Patriots on Sunday, silencing weeks of debate about the two-way star’s limited usage.

The 23-year-old, the 2024 Heisman winner and No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 draft, jumped a route and sprinted to the corner of the North endzone as EverBank Stadium roared. The interception gives Hunter a pick on defence and a touchdown catch in his first 10 NFL games.

Hunter had returned this season from the LCL tear that ended his rookie campaign after seven games, starting 2026 in a managed role – 29 defensive snaps in Week 1, 37 in Week 2. NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reported before the Patriots game that Jacksonville expected Hunter to take a heavier workload, particularly as a receiver.

The Jaguars’ victory was their chance to stack wins for the first time this season. “We practiced hard… continued to grind,” Hunter said post-game, taking it a week at a time as Jacksonville pushes for momentum.
