PM Modi Marks 25 Years In Public Office, Leaders Greet Him
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who turned 76 this month, was on Sunday greeted by leaders from Gujarat as he completed 25 years in public office since first becoming the state’s chief minister on October 7, 2001.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi were among those who congratulated the Prime Minister, with celebrations held in Ahmedabad to mark the milestone.
A ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, including a motorcycle rally from Vadnagar to Varanasi, is being held from September 17 to October 7 to mark both the Prime Minister’s birthday and his 25 years in office.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said no leader in the country’s history has served continuously for 25 years as the head of a state government and the Union government.
The milestone comes as Modi, first elected Prime Minister in 2014, continues into the second year of his third term in office.
