India reached the semi-finals of the Asian Games men’s cricket competition after their quarter-final against Malaysia was washed out. No play was possible because of rain.

With the match abandoned, India advanced on the basis of their higher ICC T20 ranking. The rule sends the higher-ranked team through when weather stops play.

India will now face Pakistan in the semi-final, setting up a high-voltage clash between the arch-rivals. The match is scheduled for October 2.
