A record 122 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide by the end of June 2026, the UN refugee agency said. That means one in every 67 people on the planet has fled home.

Sudan tops the list with 14.1 million displaced people, followed by Syria with 13.5 million. Venezuela accounts for 7.6 million and Ukraine for 6.3 million, according to the UNHCR’s mid-year report.

UN refugee chief Filippo Grandi said the numbers show conflicts are lasting longer and peace efforts are failing. He urged world leaders meeting at the UN General Assembly to act on the root causes.

The agency said funding cuts have forced it to reduce aid in several regions. Millions of displaced families now face less food, shelter and medical help than a year ago.

The UNHCR warned the figure could rise further if fighting in Sudan and other hotspots continues. It called for more resettlement places and faster asylum decisions in host countries.
