The World Health Organization says 838 people have been killed and more than 3,000 wounded in Yemen since early August. Tens of thousands have been forced from their homes, the WHO said on Monday.

Fighting flared again after the Houthis seized parts of the Red Sea coast in early September. Saudi Arabia has carried out hundreds of airstrikes since then. Reports say US President Donald Trump called off planned American airstrikes. Britain agreed to give limited air-to-air refuelling support.

A market strike in the Taiziyah district of Taiz on Sunday killed at least seven people, Houthi-run health officials said. The claim could not be checked by independent agencies.

The UN’s World Food Programme said over 130,000 people have fled their homes. It warned that 18 million people in Yemen now face acute food insecurity.

The WHO said hospitals in the worst-hit areas are running short of medicines and staff.

Aid groups say the fighting has blocked key supply routes. Fuel prices have shot up in the affected regions. The UN has called for a pause in fighting so relief can reach trapped families.
