FICCI Frames opens with Rs 59,000 crore screen bet

FICCI FRAMES 2026 opened in Mumbai on Monday with nearly 59,000 crore rupees riding on India’s screen economy in the year ahead.
The two-day convention at the Grand Hyatt, the 26th edition, is being held under the theme ‘India’s Media Moment: Creating Value in an Age of Infinite Content’. It covers film, television, streaming, gaming and the creator economy.
Theatrical film production and distribution alone are estimated to jump 30 per cent to 15,000 crore rupees in FY27, from 11,500 crore rupees, far outpacing the larger television-and-digital pool.
Star-led projects still carry the biggest bets. Films involving Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan represent a pipeline of 4,000 to 5,000 crore rupees through FY30, including King and the planned Pathaan 2. Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan account for another 4,500 to 5,500 crore rupees, with Ramayana and Love & War among the big productions.
The event brings together Ajay Devgn, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao alongside studio heads and policymakers. Why it matters: the industry is shifting from financing individual films to building long-term franchises and streaming assets.
