No. 20 Oregon beat No. 12 USC 41-27 on Saturday, September 26, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum behind backup quarterback Dylan Raiola. Oregon moved to 3-1 and 1-0 in the Big Ten, while USC fell to 4-1 and 1-1.

Raiola entered after starting quarterback Dante Moore left the field in an ambulance in the second quarter. Moore, a Heisman candidate, was hit in the head by USC linebacker Desman Stephens while sliding. Stephens was ejected for targeting. Raiola, a two-year Nebraska starter who transferred to Oregon last January, went 19-of-25 for 289 yards and two touchdowns, throwing a 3-yard touchdown pass to Evan Stewart on his second snap.

Oregon piled up 504 yards of offense, including 270 yards and four touchdown drives in the second half under Raiola. Dakorien Moore caught a go-ahead 29-yard touchdown with 8:35 to play, and Jordon Davison added a clinching 2-yard run with 2:03 left.

USC quarterback Jayden Maiava threw for 326 yards and two scores before Oregon pulled away. Coach Dan Lanning called the hit on Dante Moore “a disgusting play” and said Moore is recovering and can move.
