Around 21 trains stand cancelled today, September 28, as Indian Railways carries out a non-interlocking block near Mokama's Rajendra Setu. The block runs from September 21 to October 4 to integrate a new double-line rail bridge built parallel to the existing 1.9-km Rajendra Pul over the Ganga.

Services cancelled today include the 13031/13032 Howrah-Jaynagar Express, 13156 Sitamarhi-Kolkata Express, 13185/13186 Sealdah-Jaynagar Gangasagar Express and 15234 Kolkata-Darbhanga Maithili Express, according to Native Planet.

Several long-distance trains are diverted instead. The 22406 Anand Vihar Terminal-Bhagalpur Garib Rath now runs via Grand Chord-Kiul-Gaya, while the 12435 Jaynagar-Anand Vihar Terminal uses the Samastipur-Muzaffarpur-Patliputra-Danapur route. Many Howrah-Delhi services are diverted via Kiul-Sheikhpura-Bihar Sharif-Bakhtiyarpur.

Work is concentrated at Rajendra Pul Mokama, Hathidah Junction Upper, Tal, Rampur Dumra and Dinkar Gram Simaria stations, East Central Railway's CPRO Saraswati Chandra said. The Commissioner of Railway Safety will inspect the new bridge on October 3-4, with regular operations expected from October 5 at speeds up to 90 kmph, versus 40-50 kmph on the old bridge. Cancellation counts differ across sources and dates, so travellers should check schedules before leaving.
