Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko said this week that Russian crude supplies enabled India to handle oil-supply delays after the West Asian conflict disrupted energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz, calling Moscow a reliable energy partner, according to Russian outlet NEWS.ru.

He said existing arrangements between India and Russia helped "significantly mitigate" the consequences of disruptions to global energy trade, and that Moscow could meet partner demand even in difficult geopolitical conditions.

Rudenko also referred to the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant built in collaboration with Russia and said another site would soon be allocated for a Russian-designed nuclear power plant.

Separately, Kpler preliminary data cited in Indian reporting put Russian crude supplies to India at around 2.1 million barrels per day in August and around 1.9 million bpd in September. Another report said Indian refiners nearly doubled Russian crude imports to 2.25 million bpd in March 2026 — about half of India's total oil purchases — after Gulf supplies were hit. The remarks from Moscow come as Russian crude continues to flow toward Asian buyers.
