Dorothy, the Tamil drama directed by Karthik Subbaraj and starring Keerthy Suresh alongside Sananth and Rishikanth, released theatrically on September 25. It showed steady growth over its opening weekend, reaching a three-day India net of Rs 3.55 crore per Zoom TV (Sacnilk).

Day-wise figures were roughly Rs 90 lakh on Friday, Rs 1.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.40 crore on Sunday, with Sunday up 12% over Saturday. ETimes/Civaropulse, also citing Sacnilk, reports a slightly higher three-day net of Rs 3.66 crore with Sunday at Rs 1.51 crore, up 20.8%. Both agree on the upward trend.

Occupancy rose from 33% on opening day to 41% on Saturday and 46% on Sunday, across 778 shows. The total India gross is estimated at about Rs 4.15 crore per Zoom TV, or Rs 4.24 crore per ETimes.

Set in rural 1990s Tamil Nadu, the film centers on childhood friends Karthi and Subbu, with an original score by Ilaiyaraaja and cinematography by S. Thirunavukkarasu. It premiered at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival on September 11 and is produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain.

Competition was stiff: Hiphop Tamizha Adhi's Meesaya Murukku 2, released the same day, posted a three-day India net of Rs 13.95 crore, with Rs 6.05 crore on Sunday across 1,790 shows.
