Income Tax Department teams carried out search operations at around 12 locations in Mumbai on Monday, Sept 28, linked to actor Rakul Preet Singh, her father-in-law and veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani, Panorama Studios, and filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar's office, per Bollywood Hungama. Officials examined documents, account records and digital financial information.

Per a TV9 report cited by Bollywood Hungama, the action followed information that substantial sums were remitted overseas under heads such as film shoots, foreign distribution and production expenses. Officials are examining whether the transactions involved tax evasion or other financial irregularities.

At publication the operations were still underway, with no final findings or conclusions announced. Rakul Preet Singh married actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani, Vashu Bhagnani's son, in 2024.

Multiple outlets stress the searches are part of an ongoing investigation and do not by themselves establish wrongdoing by any individual or company. What investigators conclude will decide whether the probe moves to formal action.
