India's Pincky Balhara won the bronze medal in women's -78kg kurash at the Asian Games on Monday after losing her semifinal 0-5 to South Korea's Mo Sumin at Aichi-Nagoya.

Balhara reached the semifinal by beating South Korea's Lim Garam 3-0 in the quarterfinal. The Nagoya bronze makes her the first Indian to win two Asian Games kurash medals, after her silver at Jakarta 2018, and it is India's third-ever Asian Games kurash medal, according to ANI. Kurash is a traditional form of upright jacket wrestling.

Balhara attributed her semifinal defeat to a right-knee injury. 'I injured my right knee in my quarter-final bout. She was hitting in on my right knee. She knew that I am injured. That's why I lost. I couldn't do an attack,' she told SportsTak.

India's overall tally stood at 38 medals (four gold, 16 silver, 18 bronze) after her medal, according to ANI. Her bronze adds to India's growing medal count in combat sports at the Games and keeps the country among the leading medal winners overall.
