India won two historic silver medals in squash singles at the Asian Games 2026 on Sunday as Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh finished runners-up in their finals at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena.

The 18-year-old Anahat lost the women's singles final 3-0 (11-4, 11-4, 11-7) to Malaysia's Sivasangari Subramaniam, becoming the first Indian woman to win an Asian Games squash singles silver, according to ANI. She had reached the final with a 3-2 comeback win over Japan's world No. 6 Satomi Watanabe in the semifinals after being 2-0 down.

Abhay Singh lost the men's singles final 3-0 (11-9, 11-5, 11-5) to Malaysia's defending champion Ng Eain Yow. He became only the second Indian man after Saurav Ghosal to reach an Asian Games singles final.

Both defeats also cost India early LA 2028 Olympic quota places reserved for the singles champions. India finished the day on 37 medals (4 gold, 16 silver, 17 bronze), according to reports. The two silvers mark one of India's best-ever days on the squash court at the Asian Games.
