Srikanth makers Tushar Hiranandani and Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani have announced their next film, Ragda 25. It is based on the Indian Army’s first experimental batch of 25 women, Tushar told Bollywood Hungama. Their earlier film Srikanth (2024) won Best Hindi Feature Film at the 72nd National Film Awards.

“Our film is called Ragda 25. It is about 25 inexperienced girls who had a dream of joining the Army,” Nidhi Hiranandani said. “It was an experimental batch. If these 25 women had failed, the Army would have closed its doors to women forever.” Even one failure could have shut the door, she added.

The Army set benchmarks for women officers as training went on, she said. Tushar said the makers have taken life rights from Anjana Bhaduria, who topped the batch, and the Army has approved the script. Casting is almost complete, and the shoot will be at one location in Chennai.

The announcement matters because it revives a little-known chapter of Army history. Like their earlier films, the story is built on a real-life event.
