INDIA bloc parties are likely to meet in Delhi on September 30 to discuss the Election Commission, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and CEC Gyanesh Kumar, according to sources cited by PTI.

The meeting is expected to be held at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi. The agenda includes a proposed removal motion against the CEC, for which signatures may be collected, a demand for his resignation, and an independent inquiry into EC decisions.

The meeting was proposed after TMC chief Mamata Banerjee spoke with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and CPI(M) general secretary MA Baby. Expected attendees include Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav and Uddhav Thackeray, PTI sources said.

The Congress Working Committee is scheduled to meet on September 29 in New Delhi to discuss the party’s strategy, a day before the bloc meeting. On September 25, Congress workers held protests in multiple states, including J&K, Assam, Uttarakhand, UP, Chandigarh, Manipur and West Bengal, demanding the CEC’s resignation.
