Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, known for Dus, Mulk and Thappad, has launched his own music label, ‘Benaras Beat’, revealed in an exclusive interview with Variety India.

Sinha said the label was ‘formed in my head and in the office about seven-eight years ago’. He began formally learning music about three years ago, started working with a couple of composers about a year ago, and the team has now created exclusive original songs that will be released soon. The songs are forthcoming, not yet released.

The label is meant for making music outside of films. Sinha told Variety India: ‘if you want to do something and you don’t do anything about it, then it’s a dream, and if you want to do something and you do a lot about it, then it’s an ambition.’

The launch marks a new chapter for the director, whose films are known for their music. Trade outlets including Bollywood Hungama have reported the move, and the first exclusive tracks are expected to be unveiled shortly.
