Twelve teenagers were wounded when gunfire erupted at a birthday gathering in a Macon, Georgia park early on September 27, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies were called to Carolyn Crayton Park just after midnight after reports of gunfire near the skatepark area. A group had gathered for an 18th birthday party after being told to leave an Airbnb in Jones County earlier in the evening. A second group arrived at the park, and an argument between the two escalated into shooting, Sheriff David Davis said. The victims were four 18-year-old men, five 17-year-old boys, two 18-year-old women and a 19-year-old man. Two of them were in critical condition and the rest were stable. Davis said he could not recall the last time so many people were shot at once. The 12th victim arrived at a hospital on Sunday afternoon with a non-life-threatening wound. Investigators recovered shell casings from multiple weapons and impounded seven vehicles. Ten witnesses were interviewed. No arrests have been made, and the FBI is assisting the investigation. Police said the victims were part of the party group.
