Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray have announced a joint march in Mumbai on October 4. The rally will protest the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The brothers have invited all political parties and citizens to join.

Raj Thackeray accused the poll panel of acting like a branch of the ruling party. He alleged gross deception of voters under the guise of the revision exercise. He demanded the cancellation of the SIR and a return to paper ballots.

The leaders said Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar was acting in favour of the ruling party. Reports also say two election commissioners raised objections to poll panel decisions 14 times in ten months. The commission says differences of view are a normal part of institutional deliberation.

The march is the brothers' latest joint move after years of rivalry. Their parties earlier fought the Mumbai civic polls together. What matters next is which opposition parties formally endorse the October 4 rally and how the poll panel responds.
