India Women Beat Iran 37-34 to Retain Asian Games Kabaddi Gold
India's women's kabaddi team retained the Asian Games gold medal on Saturday with a thrilling 37-34 win over Iran in the final at Nagoya on Saturday. India led 22-16 at half-time before withstanding a fierce Iranian comeback.
Iran won the second half 18-15 and closed the gap to a single point at 26-27, but India's defence held firm in the closing stages. After the triumph, the Indian players took a celebratory victory lap of the arena chanting 'Vande Mataram'.
The title is India's fourth women's kabaddi gold at the Asian Games, after wins in 2010, 2014 and 2022. The only exception was the 2018 Jakarta Games, when Iran beat India in the final.
The gold is India's third at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Games, following the women's cricket team and the 10m air pistol mixed team that won earlier. India's men's kabaddi team was to face Iran in the men's final later on Saturday.
