President Donald Trump got a mixed reception at Saturday’s college football game between Texas and Tennessee. Fans loudly booed when he was introduced on the jumbotron at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.

The 80-year-old president attended the September 26 matchup between No. 1 Texas and No. 14 Tennessee. He arrived with an Air Force One flyover before the game. He sat next to Marsha Blackburn, a Tennessee senator running for governor.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the 45th president and 47th president of the United States, Donald J. Trump,” the announcer said. The crowd responded with audible boos along with some cheers. Trump appeared on the big screen and seemed unfazed.

Security was tight at the stadium. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian had warned that a presidential visit could disrupt team communications if Trump left early.

Texas beat Tennessee 20-17 in the game. Trump did not publicly back either team before kickoff.

The appearance continued a run of mixed receptions for the president at major sporting events this year.
