Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on China, India and other major non-Western powers to take a stronger stance on Russia. He made the appeal in a statement posted to Telegram on Sunday, September 27.

“Unfortunately, there is a lack of a consistently strong position from China and India, Brazil and South Africa, the G20 countries and the Global South,” Zelensky said. He added that each of these countries has influence over Russia “and can help make peace a reality.”

Zelensky said Russia launched more than 2,200 attack drones, about 1,650 guided aerial bombs and 38 missiles against Ukraine this week alone. A significant share of the missiles were ballistic, he said.

Overnight strikes killed three people in the Zaporizhzhia region and a man in Kyiv, according to the president. Russian forces also struck a data center in Kyiv twice in one morning, injuring three people, including two children.

Civilian targets were hit across multiple regions, including Odesa, Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Poltava, Zhytomyr and Kyiv, Zelensky said.

Ukraine continues working with partners including the US, EU, Canada, Japan and Australia on defense and diplomacy, he said.
