Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has written an open letter to supporters after reports that the club was found guilty of 114 of 115 Premier League financial charges.

The letter was published on the club’s website on September 26, a day after Friday’s media reports on the long-running case. The charges were brought in February 2023 and cover alleged rule breaches between 2009 and 2018.

Al Mubarak wrote: “The Premier League process still has a long way to run, and our confidence and intent in proving the club’s innocence is just as strong as when this began.”

He said the letter passed several legal checks because of the case’s strict confidentiality. He urged fans to read the club’s statements from Friday and February 2023, saying “every word matters and holds true.”

City, who deny any wrongdoing, are expected to appeal the independent panel’s decision. The verdict would be one of the most significant rulings in the sport’s history, with far-reaching questions about financial regulation and competitive integrity.
