Former Stoke City manager Tony Pulis says he feels “cheated” over his club’s 2011 FA Cup final defeat after Manchester City were found guilty of the majority of 115 Premier League financial-rule charges.

Pulis led Stoke to Wembley in May 2011, where they lost 1-0 to City. Yaya Touré scored the only goal. It was Stoke’s first FA Cup final in the club’s history, and City’s first major trophy since 1976.

Writing in a BBC Sport column on Sunday, Pulis said Stoke supporters had been asking him a simple question since Friday’s verdict: “When do we get our FA Cup?”

“I thought exactly the same,” he wrote. “While the process is far from over because Manchester City are expected to appeal, I have to say this verdict and the whole situation has left a very sour taste in my mouth.”

Pulis said he does not seriously expect trophies to be handed back. A points deduction and a large fine feel far more likely, he added. “But I still feel cheated.”

City have strenuously denied the charges. Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said on Saturday he remains confident of proving the club’s innocence. No official announcement on punishment has been made.
